Can anybody explain why it is ‘Former Wales and Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy’?

Craig Bellamy is in the news yet again.

At the moment he is on gardening leave after being accused of bullying in his role as under 18s coach at Cardiff City, the club he also supports and played for in two separate spells.

To top that, Craig Bellamy has now been banned from driving for 18 months after being prosecuted for drink driving.

We now have an interesting insight into how the media work.

Thanks to Newcastle fan ‘Handsome Lobster’ for this great spot…

So, Craig Bellamy last played for Newcastle United in 2004, fully 15 years ago.

After his last Newcastle United appearance, the striker played for:

Celtic

Blackburn

Liverpool

West Ham

Manchester City

Cardiff City

Liverpool

Cardiff City

So why on earth is he ‘Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy’???

We are repeatedly told by everybody that Newcastle United and their fans should know their place as nobodies in this brave new football world.

Yet when any negative story is ran, they want to attach NUFC to it.

We are constantly told that Newcastle’s aren’t in the same league as the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, so why aren’t they attached to this negative story.

Even West Ham and Celtic fans would no doubt (wrongly) argue that they are bigger than the Magpies but their club’s name isn’t attached to Bellamy’s wrongdoing.

Plus as player (two spells), supporter and currently suspended coach, then surely it should be Cardiff getting named and shamed.

I bet if he was helping orphans or won the Nobel Peace Prize it wouldn’t be ‘Former Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy…’
